Monday, March 13th we prepared to leave Dog River Marina. At the marina was a group of mallard ducks that the staff and visitors fed. One female in this group had an unusually high number of white offspring.
We were soon underway, crossing Mobile Bay. With strong winds and the heaviest seas we’d encountered on the trip so far, there wasn’t much opportunity for taking pictures.
Fortunately we were able to look forward to the protection of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near the mouth of Mobile Bay, as well as free use of a private dock in Orange Beach, and dinner in town, courtesy of the broker who had sold the boat and lived nearby.
We also were able to visit Orange Beach. Although it was cloudy, cool and still breezy, there were a number of hearty spring-breakers making the most of their time here.
Today we traveled 48 nautical miles, for a total trip distance of 677 miles.
